Very rugged GPS with a Quad Helix antenna. Works very well under dense foillage. Has a build in magnetic compass. Is very easy to operate and works with additional SD memory cards for card detail. (street level). Stores enough routes/waypoints. Very good "track back" function. It comes with a PC interface cable. Has a good large clear display, with 2 settings for backlight intensity. I've got good accurate readings. I've used it mainly for Geocaching and walks in the forrest. I also used it a few times to measure what the distance was, when I was running my laps.

Cold Steel SRK

www.coldsteel.com

The SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) is an extremely (razor)sharp knife. It holds and edge extremely well. Griptexture is good. It's a bit heavy but it's strong and can be used for light chopping and prying. Never seen a knife that holds an edge this well! The Kydex sheath is great too. Overall it's a very rugged knife for a decend price! Steel used: Carbon V.

CRKT MDP STIFF KISS

Nice little neck knife. It's made of AUS6 steel. It's not too sharp but it does work well. I think the grip is a little too small. But on the other hand a large heavy neck knife isn't great either. I've cord wrapped the handle to give it a little more secure grip during cutting. Use it as backup or neck knife.

Benchmade Griptillian

Very handy folder, with pocket clip. I expected to get it razor sharp but is wasn't. It's still a very sharp and good EDC (every day carry) knife. Made of 440C. The axis lock is amazingly strong and has no play. The bronze spacers make this knife the smoothest opening knife I've handled/used. Keep this one with you at all times and you won't regret it.

DMT Diafold sharpener (600/1200 grid)

www.dmtsharp.com

Diamond sharpener that does it's job very well. This version (Diafold) has two sides to give your knife a good sharp edge. (Fine and extra fine 600 and 1200 grid) Water (no oil !!!)is used for lubrication. It's a handy small package to take with you and use it everywhere you want to. Only drawback: It's a little too small. It's just not wide enough for me.

Maglite Magcharger

Great flashlight for in house/boat/camping/security use. Uses a 220V adapter and 12V car adapter. Actually floods the area with light. Very good beam that can be focused or set to flood light. Too bad it only has a NiCd battery instead of a NiMh or Li-on. Great light for securty purposes too, it can be used as baton after you've blinded the object.

ARClight AAA Ledlight

www.arcflashlight.com

Great little led light. It's waterproof and uses a very bright LED. It runs on only one AAA battery for at least 4.5 to 5 hrs. After 5 hours or so, the "moon" mode activates, now it only gives a small amount of light but still ussable in complete darkness. This is a absolutely bombproof light. Don't leave home without it. You probably don't even notice you will have it with you.

Coleman Apex II

This small stove works like a blasting furnace! Boils water within minutes, even in very windy conditions. Has a good simmer adjustment and has a solid tripod. Ignition is easy and the pump is made of metal parts mostly. The detachable fuel bottle contains enough fuel for 3 days of lunch and dinner. Because of the detachable fuel bottle, it's easy to stow this burner away in your backpack. There is also a kerosene kit for this burner. I've used it only with Coleman fuel, and don't have to complain about it's performance! Great economic stove that works!

(Dutch version)

It's a great book with a lot of good pictures. There are a lot of good tips and hints. Its shows a lot of practical and usefull skills. It also shows a lot of impractical skills and some things I really wonder if I will really try them. Overall it's a very helpfull and usefull book. Use the things you think that are usefull for you at your own judgement. But only reading a book will not make you a skilled person. Use the techniques and try them over and over again!

The Swedish Firesteel

www.lightmyfire.com.au/
It's a great and unbelievable handy tool to make a fire. Just find some dry tinder etc and try to ignite it! Just one or two good strikes is enough to light the tinder with a shower of hot sparks. It can ignite gasoline/diesel/white gas, cotton balls, dry grass etc. There are two versions the Scout and the Army version (3000strikes and 12000strikes). It works even when wet, if you don't want to attach the scraper you can use your knife for making sparks. It can also work as a signalling device! This is THE fire making tool!! Don't leave home without it.

Nikon 7x20 CF DX Adventurer

Nice little bino with a clear view. One adjustable lens (eye correction). On the top there is a focus wheel. Never expected to have such a clear sight with such a small and lightweight binoculars. It's pretty sturdy and comes with a neck cord and small carry pouch. It's a good field bino. For longer range viewing you really need a bino with a bigger magnefication.

Recta DS50

Good compass for the money. A little big but very accurate and with the luminous bezel it's easy to read the compass in dark situations. It's sturdy and has a clinometer, magnifying lens, declination scale, transparant body for easy map reading, etc. Weights only 72grams.

Streamlight Scorpion

This is a really amazing piece of flashlight! It's as bright and powefull (6500 candle power) as a Magcharger. But a lot smaller! Operates on 2x CR123a batteries for over an hour contimuous use (not yet tested). It's size is just  shorter than a AA size maglite, and a bit thicker. It has a spare bulb in the head and the light can be adjusted to beam or floodlight. Used with the Fobus/First Samco tactical light mount it can even be used as a tactical weaponslight!

Shortly there will be a a review of this awesome knife. I already can tell that this is a very hard use knife, and I cannot imagine that this knife will not get a great review from me.

Update 24-05-2005: I still haven't found time to test the knife to it's full potential. I did some cutting and chopping with it. It performed excellent. But for some good reviews check out this site: Swamprat knive reviews
